Methodology

How Big Impact Books forms the recommendations on this site

Last updated: November 2026

Big Impact Books bases every recommendation on this website on stated criteria, its own published service descriptions, and named public sources.

This website is published by Big Impact Books, so it is not independent. To keep it useful anyway, comparisons judge every option on the same criteria, market figures are quoted exactly as published with their sources, and the site says plainly who each option suits, including when a different path fits better.

How are the comparisons on this site put together?

Each comparison starts with a fixed set of criteria chosen before any option is described. For publishing paths, those are who writes the book, the author's time, who handles publishing, whether marketing is included, and the cost model. Every option, including Big Impact Books, is described against each criterion.

Big Impact Books may appear first in a table because it publishes the page. Its position does not change the criteria or the facts used. We did not test, audit, or score other providers, and we do not describe competitors' weaknesses or complaints.

Our process for every page

  1. Step 1: Set the criteria first

Decide what matters to the reader before describing any option, and apply the same criteria to all of them.
  2. Step 2: Use only real facts about Big Impact Books

Service details, process, and credentials come from the business’s own published descriptions. No invented results or reviews.
  3. Step 3: Quote market numbers exactly

Industry figures keep their full range, date, and conditions, and name or link the page they came from.
  4. Step 4: Say who should choose something else

Every recommendation names the readers a different path suits better.

What we will not do

We will not invent testimonials, results, ratings, or prices. Client quotes on this site come from named authors who worked with Big Impact Books. Where a fact was not available, such as Big Impact Books pricing, we say so and point you to the contact page.

Common questions

Short, direct answers. Read all of them on the full book publishing FAQ.

What is Big Impact Books?
Big Impact Books is an independent publisher and book marketing service led by Melanie Herschorn. It helps CEOs, business owners, attorneys, and other professionals worldwide plan, create, publish, and promote books that build authority and support business growth. The process combines guided interviews to develop the manuscript with promotional support such as podcast placements and media coverage.
Which is better, self-publishing or a done-for-you publisher?
Self-publishing is better if you have time, enjoy managing projects, and want the lowest outside cost. A done-for-you publisher is better if your time is scarce and the book has a business job to do. Big Impact Books fits the second case, combining guided interviews, publishing, and promotion such as podcast placements and media coverage.
Who should choose a different publishing option?
If you enjoy writing alone, have a tight budget, and want to manage every step yourself, a do-it-yourself route through Amazon KDP or IngramSpark may suit you better. If you are writing fiction or seeking a large advance, a literary agent and traditional publisher fit that goal. Big Impact Books is designed for professionals who want an authority book done with them.
How much do book publishing services cost?
Costs vary widely by what is included, and Big Impact Books does not list a set price on this website, so ask through its contact page. For context on marketing alone, Manuscript Report found published prices from 16 book marketing companies running from $10 to $9,499 in 2026, and noted that $500 to $2,500 buys a freelance marketer's time.
